Five years ago, the young and ambitious Lizzie Moroney came to Tanzania as a volunteer with Boma Africa.  Lizzie was a university student, studying education, with a minor in art.  Her custom project in Tanzania was to offer free arts & crafts drop in classes for village kids after school.  It was a huge success and she had to split the kids up, because she had approximately 50 kids showing up each day!  We faced a challenge in the village to access a space for her to offer her classes in. She realized this village didn’t have e community centre.

Lizzie lived as a true Tanzanian, in a rural village, in a local house.  While it was a huge adjustment at first, Lizzie came to love the village and her Tanzanian family.  She went home with a full heart and fiery drive to help the community of Mto wa Mbu.

After she got home to Australia, Lizzie and Anthea established the Mto wa Mbu Project; an initiative to provide a community centre for the village!

Boma Africa has support the Mto wa Mbu project along the way; and donated 1 acre of Boma’s community plot for the centre.

5 years later she was back in Mto wa Mbu; her dream coming to life!
